For our anniversary, I challenged myself with a new recipe with a little bit of my own twist. It turned out to be super yummy so I am sharing it with everyone!
Balsamic Whiskey Marinade:
Put ingredients into a zip lock bag - I used a two gallon bag so I could get both steaks in and marinating together. Let the steaks marinate for about an hour and a half. You can marinate longer but the bourbon will be stronger in the steaks.
While the steaks are marinating - start prepping the sides. We used the same marinade on our green beans.
Bacon Shiitake Green Beans:
Marinate the green beans and shiitake mushrooms in the Balsamic Whiskey Marinade (see above for recipe) for about an hour. Sautee onions and bacon in cast iron skillet while everything is marinating.
Seasoned Red Potatoes:
While onions and bacon is going, start boiling the water for your potatoes. Cook potatoes til cooked. Place potatoes on baking sheet and dice or smash them lightly. Drizzle ingredients over the potatoes and stick in the over for 45 minutes at 355 degrees. Go ahead and stick your rolls in there with them.
Start cooking the beans on the stove on a lower heat - cover. Stir occasionally until cooked.
Grill or cook steaks in a iron cast skillet until they are at the temperature you prefer. We cooked our's medium rare.
Place everything on a plate and sprinkle the green beans with a touch of goat cheese and you are all set for a delicious meal!
Abbi's Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
Makes 8 Servings - freezer friendly!
What you need:
Dice all fresh veggies and herbs (onions, peppers, etc) slow simmer on stove. Be patient, flavor takes time. Once fresh stuff is adequately sautéed - add ground Italian sausage. Brown it. Add tomato, sauce and paste. Keep seasoning to taste. Slow cook til flavor is good. Stir often.
